About

“I count myself one of the number of those who write as they learn and learn as they write.” Augustine

**Update** Hey friends- I’m feeling too sentimental to delete the ‘About’ that I wrote years ago, when I was toddler chasing and my kids fit neatly on my lap! We’ve entered a new season here- complete with driver’s ed and college visits. Oh, my. My littlest just finished up kindergarten and I turned forty last year. Life is changing…

We’re still homeschooling (most of us…) and I’ve taken on a new school adventure for myself. Last year I began a Master’s in Counseling program through Westminster Theological Seminary. This has been beautifully challenging and significant- I hope that between papers and final exams I can squeeze in the moments to bring you along on this journey- Blessings!

*****************************

I’m usually writing in the ‘between’ moments, with a child on my lap or dinner on the stove. My husband and I live in our house in the woods, with our seven adventurous kids (three girls and four boys), an often sleepy dog, and a scattering of chickens along with the moose, deer, coyotes and others that leave their tracks and let us know that they call this place home as well.

I’m a homeschooling, toddler chasing, laundry folding, sky gazing momma; an independent New Englander learning how dependent I am on the Creator and Sustainer of all that I love.

I find that all my stories seem to come around to His story… the reality that God has spoken into the darkness and created light, that He keeps promises to a wandering people, was wounded in order to bring healing, and calls us not to just hear, but to enter in and find ourselves part of this, the most beautiful, eternity-changing, true story that has ever been told.

Through Him, for Him, and being held together by Him,

Lara J. Mather

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities– all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.… Colossians 1:17-18
